hi, is there some way on a linux server to get it to run a php script automaticaly every x ammount of days? (i do not have access to the machine in any way other than ftp so id need something a php script could install)

If you want to "automaticaly every x ammount ..." you have to setup this task in crontab, but:
1. You can not do this because tou have no access there (i do not have access to the machine in any way other than ftp)
2. The PHP scripts can not be executed by crontab
Note: if somebody did that, can tell me how?!

So, the only way to solve your desire is to use CGI

dont think sleep() would be a decent option
i was thinking maybe i could get the server to call the php interpereter every so ofern with what ever args it needs to make it run the script, maybe i can get the tech guy to set the server up to do that.

ps. how would i call the interpereter?

If you can get the tech to insert the job into the cron, you just need to run the script through command line php .
