[Resolved] Networking question

I've got an XP kit and a Red Hat 8.0 Linux kit both networked to a Broadband Router which has a switch and a DHCP server.

I want to practise networking with my Linux server (setting up a domain and DNS) but I don't think I can do this while having the DHCP server on the router. 🙁

How do I set up my physical network so that I can do this? Do I need to disconnect the router altogether and buy a new hub, or can I just connect the XP kit and LInux server with a crossover cable?

Can I configure things so that the router is still included in the network?

Just give your linux box a fixed IP on the same subnet, but outside the DHCP scope of your router. All the computers and the router should play nicely together.
