outputing the array number?

this is a little off the path...but i'm working on a little menu system that produces a series of array via javascript...easy enough...however, i have to have a series of values 0...1...2...3...to whatever...

and what i need is some way to output just the array numbers as they come out of the query...i haven't found a solution for this yet...

this is how it should look as it comes out of the loop...

names[0]='Home';
names[1]='Content';
names[2]='News';
names[3]='Whatever';
etc...

any ideas on how i might work through this?

edit: actually...as i'm trying to find some info about this...it seems i really need to create a counter instead...to count from 0 until the loop ends...hmmm...

Problem: Echo out the array IDs.

Solution:

for(array_keys($aryMenu) as $curKey) {
  echo $curKey . "<br />\n";
}

i did a search on array_keys and did some reading...unfortunately that won't work as it gets passed through some other things...

what i need is a counter...from 0 to whatever...

this is my first time trying to do this...so of course, it's not working...i keep getting "1" every time it loops out...

Move $counter = 0; outside your loop ... from what it appears, you keep getting 1 because your resetting counter to 0 and increasing 1 each pass. .. put it before you start the loop ...

aha...yes...that was the problem...

i also needed to set $counter to equaly -1 so that the first output would be zero...

do i mark this resolved even though the subject no longer really corresponds to the results? heh...
