Distinct ?

SELECT DISTINCT ul.users_userid, ul.userlogins_time FROM userlogins ul ORDER BY ul.userlogins_time

My table consists of the two above column, users_userid holding a userid ofcourse and userlogins_time holding a unix timestamp.
There will be multiple records that have the same userid in them but I only want the one with the highest or lowest userlogins_time (sort order doesn´t matter at this point).

Distinct has always worked perfect with this before for me but now all of a sudden it´s not. Can anyone tell me what´s wrong ?

GROUP BY ul.users_userid
ORDER BY ul.users_userid

What does that do exactly ? Ran it in Mysqltool and it just said, OK 15 rows affected

Got it to almost work now as it results in 1 record per user and it´s highest userlogins_time, however the result is still ordered by the lowest existing userlogins_time in the table.

Thanx but I´m afraid that still orders by ul.userlogins_time and not by the value retrievd by max(ul.userlogins_time) 🙁

oh, ok ... didnt know that you want to sort it this way:

SELECT ul.users_userid, max(ul.userlogins_time) AS maxtime
FROM userlogins ul
GROUP BY ul.users_userid
ORDER BY ul.maxtime
