Only one number getting sorted...

I have the following:

$query = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM members where 1=1 ORDER BY clicks DESC");

But, it is sorting by the first number, not the whole number.

etc, this is what is is currently:

Username Clicks

1 GonZO 8
2 FirebirdGM 72
3 HaDAk 426
4 roton666 100
5 aarkwilde 10
6 Testing 0
7 Big Will 0

How could it be a half number? It is set in yoru database as a whole number right? Wow that doesn't make sense. 🙂 Ok check this out ...

$query = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM members ORDER BY clicks DESC");

That will then bring out everything in the database and it will be sorted by "clicks". What are you trying to do with the statement where 1=1 comment?

Turns out it was a stupid mistake on my part, when I created the Table, I had set all forms to FULLTEXT, inluding the numbers. I just changed it to a LARGEINT and it worked fine. 🙂

I know what's happening

it is a field that stores ascii not a field that stores numbers.

So when you sort you are sorting by ascii value not by integer value

so what is happening is this

# Username   Clicks 
1 GonZO     8 
2 FirebirdGM 72 
3 HaDAk      426 
4 roton666   100 
5 aarkwilde  10 
6 Testing    0 
7 Big Will  0

Username - Clicks (as the sql engine sees it)
GonZo - 38
FirebirdGM - 3732
HaDak - 343236
roton666 - 313030
aarkwilde - 3130
Testing - 30
Big Will - 30

Now mysql sorts so that shorter entries appear first so this sql
SELECT UserName FROM users ORDER BY Clicks,UserName
will result in this answer
Big Will, Testing, aarkwilde,roton666,HaDak,FirebirdGM,Gonzo

Is that what you're getting.

Do this:
ALTER TABLE Members CHANGE COLUMN Clicks Clicks BIGINT NOT NULL DEFAULT 0

then try your query again.
