Question about images with db

How can I only show a picture on a page if a db field has a certain value? For example lets say I have a profile page that shows peoples pictures, but I want to make that an option, how would I check if that filed in the db ro see if that option is yes or no before displaying the picture?

create a column called "active" and make it an on/off switch

Then just filter for it in your query.
