Is it safe to use oldversion of Linux?

Is it safe to use the older version of the Linux o.s. than the current version? (i.e. Use Redhat 8.0 instead of 9.0)

I haven't checked out what is new between the current version and the previous version (nor do I know where to see the updates).

Would it be safe to use Redhat 8.0 as my main o.s., mainly for web surfing? Or do you highly recommend using the current version of ANY linux distribution??

current linux version uses a quite up-to-date kernel, up-to-date versions of important programs and services and security updates, but i guess for web surfin it's ok, especially when u do not run services like apache, ftp server etc..

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using an "old version" of Linux. You should, however, apply the security patches appropriate to your distribution.
