help - calculation with dates

Lets say i have two dates in the format YYYY-mm-dd

I need to make a select statement to query reports done between 2 dates, something like this:

$after = 2003-06-01;
$before = 2003-08-27

select reports from reports where date > $after AND date < $before.

does PHP allow this kind of operation, or should I change the dates to time stamp? whats the best way to do it?

Yes

Goto the MySQL Docs and look for Between. Im not really good with SQL so i wouldnt have a very good example.

thats ok, I'll look into the BETWEEN command...

but, also I'd like to know how to perform the actual calculation of the dates...

would it work with something similar to?

select .... where date between 2003-06-01 and 2003-08-27
