Simple but Very urgent help required about chat.

Actually I am making a chat system where I am using 2 frames in bottom frame I am writing test and sending text to the database after that I am retrieving that test to upper frame by using refresh, but refreshing seems very odd. In most of the programs text updated without refreshing actually it refresh but does not seem and look very cool.
How can I do this? Please help me.

Hi,
i don't know how other people do it, but any solution
may be to use a third hidden frame, with 0 as width.
You can refresh each time this, then using javascript put new text in the second frame...

Meta Refresh chats are usually a bad idea. As you have no way to 'push' the chat text to users. This means you have to refresh at some given rate and depend on the user's browser to do the refresh properly and not to cache.

This makes it seem kinda kludgy and slow. The only way I know to make it seem better is to decrease the refresh rate to 1 second or so. This may kill your box though, unless you expect just a few people to use it.
