open automatically new content in another frame?

hello.

i have several frames. how can i automatically change the content of a frame without clicking anywhere in another frame? i think you can do this somehow with java-script?!
situation: i wanna load a content in one frame with a var "$var", and then with an "if-else" i wanna load automatically in another frame one or another content, depending on the content of $var. you understand? 🙂

Look at this:

if($var) 
  echo "<script>document.parent.nameofframe.location='document1.html'</script>";
else
  echo "<script>document.parent.nameofframe.location='document2.html'</script>";
