what to compile on inherited box?

Hey,

I have inherited a server with Linux apache/phplib/mysql and I want to recompile php so gd works.

I wonder if there is a way to verify exactly what modules etc. need to add on during install.

Is there a way to list what is working/being used?

run a phpinfo.php page

<?
phpinfo();
?>

that will tell you what php was compiled with and which extensions are currently running, etc...
