massive mysql inserts

i need to insert into mysql about 100,000 - 150,000 rows every 15 minutes.

i heard somewhere that you can use bulk_insert_buffer_size to make this insert process much faster.

does anyone have any experience with inserting massive data like this?

also to delete these many rows, is there are any less intensives methods?

No clue what the bulk_insert thing is, but I have had problems like this before and they were solved by simply using delayed inserts.

mysql_query("INSERT DELAYED INTO table...");
