php apache and SMTP server

Hi,

Not sure if this is correct place to post this, but im really stuck!😕

I've got a php application which I want to send out mails to people registered on it. The app runs on an apache server which i've built on my desktop machine.
I dont have access to a mail server so have installed IIS SMTP server so that I can send out mails, but it aint working. It is returning a true value that the mail is sent out, but it isnt mailing.

Any ideas where I should start to fix this?

Check the php.ini file, the [mail] section, and put a valid smtp server there.
