save to a txt file on user hd

i've got a textarea box on a page, and when the user clicks a button, I want the contents of the textarea box saved as a text file on the user's hard drive.

i know how to save to a file on my server, no problem, but have no idea how to save to a file on the users computer!!!!!

any help? how do you do it?

If you find a way i wanna hear about it :-) There is some ways to do it in IE but listen it is very very illegal to do this... By doing this you bypass the browser security and save things on the HD bad persons cud save worms and so....

well I actually want to give the user a dialog box so they can speicify the name and location rather than just place it somewhere!!!!!!

any ideas?

I didn't know you could use a Save As box with php, so any tips or directions as to where to look?

That'll help ya. You'll need to send the correct HTTP headers so that they're prompted with a Save As... dialog box.
