Advanced Graphing with PHP

Hi,

Some days ago, I posted a question for graphing with PHP. I built my own class and was able to do.
But the requirements for my project have changed "Dynamically" as well. 😉
Now, I have to create graphs which you can zoom into and have more controls. I dont want to use a Java Applet and would love to use PHp and any of its library. I guess such thing can be done with PHP and Flash etc. Please guide me.

Let me ask you a couple of things

For you class how hard would it be to make the following work off of variables?

x-min, x-max, y-min, y-max, x-scale & y-scale

make those work off of variables then make a couple funciton that allow you to change their values and bingo, bango zooming is accomplished - now if they want to rotate the graphs that's a yucky poo poo

Thanks for the reply. Can you be a bit more elaborate please. Here s the sample of one of the graphs:

In the ideal case, the plots would be more. Basically, I would like to see clicking or a zoom buttom next to the plot, which would help me do the zooming out etc. There s no need for totation etc.

I was just thinking of the way my ti-82 does it.

When you say graph I picture something that is on graph paper. So pull out a piece of graph paper and look at it (or just open excel)

x-min is the minimum x value that you will display
x-max is the maximum y value you will display
y-min/max are the same as x-min/max but on the opposite scale.

x/y-scale is the amount of space each square represents. So if these are both set to 1 then the graph goes displays all of the whole number points that fall into the plane defined by x-min/max and y-min/max.

so if you can change these 6 values you can zoom in and out. Basically what you're doing is playing with which plot points are displayed and how much space is between them.

So you mean I should go for the image maps.
Get the co-ordinates and use them!
I can give that a try, and a have a reset button next to the graph, which clicked would get the main image back.

If u got any other idea, it wud be highly appreciated.

make the image into an image submit button....

this will give you X and Y coordinates of where the image was clicked on 😉 I believe those values are sent via $GET['x'] $GET['y']
