using templates on localhost

Ive tried to use the the include function for my templates. They work fine on my domain over the internet.
When i try to run off my localhost it only displays the default page.

It must be the way the server has been set up to only parse .php, .html

could anybody help, if so what may be the problem.

When I understood you right you have a problem with your webserver?!

When you run apache, may it be you have a virtual host defined for displaying your page?

And this virtual host is just listening to your domain name, not to "localhost"?

PHP works and so does MYSQL (perfectly). This is run under the localhost server. The domain I was referring to was a http server on the internet not locally ran. So the hosting company has obviously configured it to run php template arguments.

I think it may be something to do with the config file of either the apache or php.
