tricky dates.. mysql/php

Hi,

Im building a search facility for a travel agents. everything works but the dates im stuck with.

A package has a start date and end date stored in mysql table, this is the dates the package is available for, not the holiday dates themselves.

e.g.

package start 2003-09-01
package end 2003-09-31

the user fills in a search form and we get a formatted start and end date.

e.g.

holiday start 2003-09-07
holiday end 2003-09-18

I want to select only packages that are available on the user requested dates.

Don't know where to start, ive trawlled the web looking for answers and cant find anyone with a similar problem.

Please help!

Something along the lines of this should work..........

$holiday_start = "2003-09-07";
$holiday_end = "2003-09-18";

select * from Packages
where package_start <= '$holiday_start'
and package_end >= '$holiday_end'

i didnt actually realise the < > operators worked with dates!!

Oh well only 6 or 7 hours wasted!
