LDAP connexions

Hi !

I need some information about php ldap capabilities.
We're looking for manage ldap connexions as ora_plogon manage
the "connexions pool" for ORACLE logon.
In the JAVA world, WebSphere give possibilities to do this for oralce and for LDAP. I know (or I believe it) PHP don't have a "context manager" in order to manage a pool of process but i don't know how it manage the oracle pool. That's why i think there's maybe a useful method to manage an ldap pool too.

Did somebody find a solution or would have ideas about this question ?

Are you talking about LDAP authentication, or LDAP database manipulation?

For authentication, either use apache 2.x which has LDAP authentication built in, or look for auth_ldap at rudedog.org for apache 1.3.x

For manipulation, there is no connection pooling. Sorry, it's just not a part of what PHP does as far as I know.

It's for LDAP database manipulation. We must be sure that there are not more than 10 LDAP connexions and that we don't often load LDAP server with connexions.

Is there somewhere (shared memory, file (serialize/deserialize the connexion object), ...) i could save the LDAP connexion ID and then reuse it ?

There are no ldap connection pooling libraries I know of.

Note that once a script finishes running, it should drop the connection. so, there shouldn't be a big problem with too many connections unless your scripts take a long time to run.
