one more try at mail() function - server error now

Hey guys, well, I had a problem with the mail() function a while back, and almost gave up on solving it. I kept going at it and now I don't get a php error anymore like before:

"...send_mail_from not set in php.ini, or custom From: not initialized..."

But now I am getting an email server error. I installed mailtraq, however I don't think I configured it correctly. Can somebody please help me on how to configure the server correctly? I've tried many things, and read the help, but still can't resolve the errors.

In the event log in Mailtraq, it goes like this:

SMTP: (accept) Receiving connection from 127.0.0.1

SMTP (1) HELO na2 ---> 250 127.0.0.1

SMTP (1) MAIL FROM:<delpueblojewelers@yahoo.com> --->250 receiving from delpueblojewelers@yahoo.com

Mail Relay Denied for d_314@yahoo.com -> delpueblojewelers@yahoo.com(127.0.0.1)

SMTP (1) RCPT TO:<d_314@yahoo.com> ---> 550 cannot relay for d_314@yahoo.com

SMTP (1) QUIT ---> 221 have a nice day (SMTP Closing)

What the heck does all of this mean? These email addresses are actual address that I use. Somebody please help me out? Thanks!!

the mailserver rejects sending messages ("cannot relay for d_314@yahoo.com") with the yahoo address because it thinks u r some spammer who wants to abuse the server for sending mass mails with faked senders... i guess u r usin a local server? the u should use an email address which is inside your local domain, i.e. localhost...

Really? So how can I send emails to people who visit my webpage? I want to send out email confirmations for those who register at my website.

I'm using IIS on a Windows Server 2000 machine.

So just to test if my mail server is actually setup correctly, how can I send an email to the localhost? Do I have to setup up an email account in Mailtraq or something?

Exchange 2000 server..

are you experienced with it?

are the mail server on another host? if it is open the function relay throue the internal hoste ip that is going to send the mail..

but open only the funktion to the webbserver localhost ip

You dont wanna be framed fore having a spam server
