are zip options on every php server possible?

hi.

i wanna code an app that should be able to be run on every server.
i wanna upload a zip-file to a server and unzip it there to move the files to the right directory. also one should be able to select some files, and then they are zipped and the zip-file can be downloaded.
i know that these options are possible, but are normal webservers able to do them?

Not all servers support zip functions, and you can't actually compress or decompress the files on the server. It's read only.
