array isn't sorted right!!

i have an array with the following entries:

when i sort it with rsort i get the following:

now, why are the last entries

folder_config.wav
folder_config.php
KOPIE.gif
DSCN0001.JPG
Bütler
hochseriös 2 2003.jpg

in the end and not sorted right into the other entries????

In the 'alphabet' underscores come before the letter 'a'. Bütler and hochseriös 2 2003.jpg are sorted at the end because they have special characters. The filenames in all-caps are sorted at the end because they are in all-caps. What function did you use to sort it?

ok this sounds logic. 😉
i used rsort. is there a sort option that doesn't if the character is big or small?? thats not case sensitive?

There are a whole bunch of sorting functions; and if you don't like what any of them do, you can make your own. You can find them listed on the [man]sort[/man] manual page; most at the end of that function's description, all of them in the column at the left.

used the following function now:

function cmp ($a, $b)
{
return strcasecmp($a["field_name"], $b["field_name"]);
}

and it seemed to work fine. but now i have some other vars in the array (some digital photos of my cam):

DSCN0009.JPG
DSCN0003.JPG
DSCN0006.JPG
DSCN0004.JPG
DSCN0002.JPG
DSCN0001.JPG
DSCN0005.JPG
DSCN0007.JPG
DSCN0008.JPG

and they are sorted the way they are above! why aren't they right sorted from DSCN0001 to DSCN0009???
