when i excecute a php script. it displays the code

When I excecute a php script on my website it just displays the code inside the script. what does this mean. Im a noob so please be gentle with replies. Dont Nuke my brain 🙂

is PHP installed on the server, is it your server, is it hosted somewhere, what code are you using, can you do a page like this

<?php phpinfo(); ?>

I dont know if PHP is installed on the server. I dont know how to check. I have 500mb webspace hosted on a UK2 Raq 3 server. It runs with Unix.

I am able to use scripts like perl/cgi. I thought I could use php aswell. I dont know.

When I put that code you typed into a webpage and then i call the webpage from my browser all i get is a blank page. No writing or anything.

I tried putting it in a text doc and saving as php but when i call it from the browser it just displays the code in the PHP file.

contact your host, sounds like PHP isn't installed

did you name the file .phps

No. But I have just renamed them to .phps and im getting the same thing. just the code inside the php script is showing when i call it from a browser.

Im checking with my host at the moment to find out if php and sql are installed.

you should name them .phps unless you want the source code to be displayed, konigwolf was just checking if you had made that mistake.
