passing a variable to a script in URL

I am trying to pass the value of a variable to the script within the URL....for example the url would be

http://www.mydomain.com/thescript.php?Id=variablevalue

It doesnt work. What am I doing wrong?

how are you accessing the variable in the script?
like this....?

$_GET['Id']

on thescript.php there should be a variable named Id and within it should be the value, you can make a simple form feild with the name/id as Id and than link it to thescript.php?Id=$Id and it will display the info you put into the form feild

(im new to php aswell so i may be wrong, just tryin to help)
