I have created a search form on the database so that users can specify over 3 fields which are "location" "price" "bedrooms".

The form searches the mysql database perfect and displays all infromation perfect.

The problem which i have is this:

On "price" the user gets to choose between 6 fields which are:

"0-149"
"150-249"
"250-349"
"350-499"
"500-749"
"750-999"
"1000+"

Now when they choose either one i want it to display all records in the database which are inbetween these numbers.

I have managed to create i box with all fields, for example:

"1"
"2"
"3"
"4"
"5"
etc to "1000"

and it displays all records which have the number matched in the price field.

How can i do this so it does it between 2 fields.

you can do it like this, quick example to get you rolling

<option value="1">0-149
<option value="2">150-249
<option value="3">250-349
<option value="4">350-499
<option value="5">500-749
<option value="6">750-999
<option value="7">1000+

$query = "select * from table where fieldwithnumbers";
if ($POST['selection'] == "1")
{
$add_to_query = " BETWEEN 0 and 149;";
}
else if ($POST['selection'] == "2")
{
$add_to_query = " BETWEEN 150 and 249;";
}
etc...

When i create a menu in macromeda, it gives me the under properties item label and value. Under the item label i put "0-149" and for value what shall i put???

Becauase this would solve my problem.

Is it best to put 1;2;3;4 etc

or is there some way of making it easier like code from 0-149.

when you have this

<option value="1">0-149

it will show 0-149 for the user in the select box, i just used 12345 as the values of those to test on, you could have

<option value="0-149">0-149

but then in your if, you would need to check for

if ($POST['selection'] == "0-149")
if ($POST['selection'] == "1")
{
$add_to_query = " BETWEEN 0 and 149;";
}

then

$query .= $add_to_query;

Unfortunatly i am a bit confused. It is my fault though i am just a bit new at this.

For my menu it has this code:

But when it searches it only displays properties that match "1"

When i use:

In value="" is there any seperator so that i can just enter all the numbers in there that apply, like:

etc - up to 149 but what is the seperator?

if you do it the way, value="1" way, with the BETWEEN 0 and 149 that will get all of them, you may have to do BETWEEN -1 and 150 to get the 0 and 149 included

you can't have that in the value="", you need to use the BETWEEN in your query for mysql
