display formated infromation problem

i am making a page that let the user enter message and then submited and then the message is stored in the database.
the and in this page the user can format the message he write by changeing the color, size etc
the problem is that the page will be stored with its formated tags in the database and when it is displayed it will displayed with the tage same as this for ex.
compact disc recordable
how can i a do the formated to the text and remove those tage when i display it to the other user

and what i mean is that it is same as when you write a message in that site you can control the size and the color and when you change it it display the text in tags but when you see it it dissplay it without the tags
how can i do it

plz any help , i know it is not diffecult and there is at least one of you who no how to do it
