Log analysers

Can't remember whether I've posted on this subject before, but what log analysers does everyone use?

I personally use AWStats, but I've seen Live Stats and it looks very VERY cool.

I now pronounce this discussion OPEN!

I use AWstats also. I like it. But I like Webalizer too. Then again, I'm not so much into the graphs as you guys are :p

I don't use any as of now, but from demos and what I have read, AWStats is the sweetest looking one!

LordShryku, I haven't tried Webalizer. Whats it like? any major differences between that and AWStats?

The main problems that I found with AWStats (when used with IIS anyroute) is that I have to delete the logfiles that I've accumulated so far. And before anyone suggests it, no moving to a *nix based system is not a viable option. Anyone who mentions it will be getting a slap. 😉

Also, does anyone know of any log analysers for FTP logs?

SSH, mang. (SFTP/SCP). FTP is notoriously insecure 🙂

--Tho... if you're running windows, not sure how much of an option that is...don't know if windows comes w/ SSH daemon, or if there's even one available.

I don't use the MS one. I use Bullet Proof FTP Server. Far better.

Anyway, I use Dreamweaver for doing my web stuff and you can't use SFTP with MX (although you might be able to with 2004, but you'd have to ask Elizabeth bout that), but you can use SSH tunneling.

However, to be honest, it's more hassle than it's worth. Admittedly, some of the stuff I do is confidential, but since most of the documents that we put online are emailed non-securely, there's not much point.

There's an SSH install for Windoze out there (I forget the name at the moment. I'll tell ya after I've had a couple cups of coffee). As far as I remember, it isn't that hard to setup too.

As far as the web logs, Webalizer and AWstats are about the same. Both do pretty much the same thing, only AWstats can be done on Windoze a lot easier than Webalizer can. I remember seeing something on them saying "Here's how you do it on Windows...", but I never actually got that to work. AWstats is just a couple statements to Perl, and off it goes.

I'm split....AWstats for Windoze. Webalizer for nix 🙂

I think you mean Putty. Tis good and it integrates with Dreamweaver really well, but I don't know of any SSH servers for windows.

If anyone knows of any good ones, then post away!
