PHP/Flash pushing data from server

Well, I guess the "Push techonolgy" is dead for good. But how can one update an html-page or a flashmovie with updated data, without setting a refresh to every ten seconds?

What server technology is available for that and how do I tell the server to update all browsers that are on that page?

I did some googling but never found an answer, so I was kinda hoping you could help. Just a link in the right direction would do =]

It also depend on how you have configuration of your browser.....
You can chose when you go on a webpage to: take always data from server or use cache.......see internet option on IE....
There is also an HTML code that set always to refresh the page when you ask for that.....but don't remember.
