Loading from and saving to users PC

I have a project that requires data to be loaded from and saved to the local users computer. (contents of a dynamic SELECT box to be exact)

Searches for code here and elsewhere havn't provided me with much, so any assistance or links to examples are greatly appreciated.

Yes, but there were a few drawbacks that have forced me to search for other solutions... Netscape cookie size and amount limitations being the biggest. There was also a desire to be able to distribute the saved data file.
