dreamweaver puts garbage into code

I keep finding things like this:

MM:BeginLock translatorClass="MM_SSI" type="ssi" orig="%3C

mmTranslatedValueHiliteColor="HILITECOLOR=%22Dyn%20Untranslated%20Color%22"

appearing in my php code when I'm using dreamweaver MX - any idea why this happens and how I can make it stop?

Having spent a bit more time searching, I found the solution
apparently its a known problem, and you need to stop DW automatically opening php files in code view, using Edit - Preferences - File Types/Editors and removing .php from the list
