This is a post brought about by my previous post re: The Mythical Man-Month by Fred Brooks, the father of the IBM Mainframe OS.
It's an interesting book, and if you've never read it, I would highly recommend it. I was reading over the excerpts at www.amazon.com (an old girlfriend of mine now has my copy... 🙂) and thought I'd post this page from the examples:

I especially like the part where he compares adding more programmers to an already late project as being akin to trying to douse a fire with gasoline.
Looks like a good read, I might have to check it out.
