how to add PATH??

Hi,
I use RedHat9.
I trying some commands..then I wrote command as

"set PATH=$PATH:/home/metin"
"set PATH=$PATH="./" " etc..
and "echo $PATH" then ý see that my diretory cold not add to PATH..
What should have been the right command??

Also, what paths/directories do you want to add to PATH?

Try editing your .bash_profile in your home directory.

In this file will be a line stating PATH=<blahblahblah>

To add a new path to this you shoud write :<extrapath> ie.

PATH=<blahblahblah>:<extrapath>

To reload your terminal to use this new profile type:

source .bash_profile
