MYsql configure username and password

Just installed Apache and MYsql on my local machine.. how do I configure MYsql to have a username and password as currently it has none

You can either manually add it into the User table in the mysql database (which stores mysql users, etc), or (if your running windows) you can run the WinMySQLAdmin program, which should have come with the install, located in C:\MySQL\bin\winmysqladmin.exe (or whatever drive you loaded it onto).
