[Resolved] fonts in GD

Im going to write a script for name card design. So I have to write text in different sizes and fonts on a background image.

Does anybody know about an existing script which does this and which is free for reuse?
I made some tests and while imagestring() works fine but delivers only a very limited choice of fonts, ImageTTFText() and ImagePSText() don't work at all --> Call to undefined function
What are the steps to be undertaken to get hold of the fonts used by the printing and publishing industry?

It sounds like you don't have '--enable-gd-native-ttf' and '--with-ttf' configured in your php, check phpinfo() to see if they are/arn't configured in.

to use TTF fonts with imagettftext() you need to first of all upload the ttf files to your server. I also noticed that it's a good idea to provide the full path of the fontfile cause for some reason it doesn't recognise relative paths very well.

These configurations are really not done. So I will contact my web hosting company to resolve this.

Concerning the upload of the ttf files: Where I get these files from? May I use for example the ttf-files from my WINDOWS/FONTS directory?

Yep, as long as it's a valid TTF file you can use it to make image text with php.

So the files in your windows/fonts directory will work fine, just make sure there accessable from the server.
