Drop Down Menu

Help! I've stumbled upon a dillema! I can't seem to figure out why the code below doens't work:

if($_POST['country'] == 'Select Your Country')
{
     echo 'You bufoon... that is not your country!';
}

Now this is the html for the drop down field:
<select name="country" id="country">
<option value="Select Your Country" selected>Select Your Country
<option value="United States">United States
<option value="Canada">Canada
</select>

Now if the user never selects a country, then the value would be the one of the selected one, Select Your Country, right? So why isn't this working?

Might be a stupid question but is form method GET or POST?

If you have

<option value="" selected>Select Your Country

with

if($_POST['country'] == '')
{
echo 'You bufoon... that is not your country!';
}

Does it work?

It didn't work...

I even tried:

if(empty($_POST['country']))
{
...
}

Add this code to see what exactly is being POSTed

echo "<pre>";
print_r ($_POST);
echo "</pre>";

[Sharif]

It printed:

Array 
(
[country] => 
)

At least it is posting something.

var_dump($_POST['country']);
