javascript.write and mySQL "SELECT"

Hello.

Has anyone had any experience with database queries within javascript? The double quotation marks around the SELECT statement are hampering my efforts. Exceptioning them out with backslashes does not work. All of my php works perfectly within the javascript except for the database query...

Any suggestions or help is truly appreciated.
