LDAP, Operational Attributes and Help!?!?

Greetings,
I am trying to pull a date value out of an operational attribute, createtimestamp. After much head scratching and trial and error I thought I hit the jackpot. I was finally able to get a returned value by using ldap_list to ask explicitly for createtimestamp. BUT, the value returned for a given record is in the correct format - but is not the same value I see when I look at the record in an LDAP browser. For example

Via LDAP browser(email, createtimestamp)
[e-mail] - 20030707231749.246940Z
Via PHP using ldap_list
[e-mail] - 20030410002235.360156Z

I am at a loss as to why they are different. Any suggestions? Is there some encoding thing going on?
