auto incrementation

I have set up a table for users of my site and for the user id field i have set it to auto increment, i already have some users from a different table and i copy these over but then when i try to create a new account for the id it puts in a 11 digit number and wont auto increment.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to do or what could be wrong?

delete the auto_Increment field, populate the table then recreate the auto_increment field with the data already there.

i tried that, even tried deleteing the tabel and recreating it without auto increment on, copied the data over, turned on auto increment and then tried adding and it done the same thing

If you use phpMyAdmin you could grab a dump of the table you set up for your users, including the auto_increment values, data structure and complete inserts.

So you could run the query on the new server, have it input all the users from your old db.

If you don't have phpMyAdmin set up, its not all that difficult to do, and it'll save you a lot of time in the future 🙂
