dicing string of emails

Hi guys!

Let's say I have a string of emails separated by either ; or , and I want to dice it up into individual emails.

How would you reccomend going about doing such a thing?

Would you count spaces between ; and , and then slice it up, or would you slice it one email at a time, making the string shorter with each consecutive pass until you have all the emails?

So this is what I want to do.....an example....

1) user inputs this into a form:
[e-mail];[e-mail];[e-mail];[e-mail]

2) I run it through my logic to get 4 strings like this:
[e-mail]
[e-mail]
[e-mail]
[e-mail]

Any ideas or thoughts? Thanx!
