[Resolved] RexEx - Two Questions

I have been trying to figure out how to RexEx replace two different things. First off, I would like to strip a tag of all occurances of 1 - 2 numbers, back to back, that may or may not have a period in front of them. For example:

1 (replace)
.1 (replace)
11 (replace)
.11 (replace)
111 (don't replace)
.111 (don't replace)

I am also trying to figure out how to replace all occurances of non alpha-numeric characters EXCEPT for underscores.

Any insight? Regular Expressions piss me off.

preg_replace("#\\.?([0-9]{1,2})#i","",$text);

should do it for the first one. As for the second one.... What do you want to replace with?

Thanks for the quick response. I forgot to mention that in the case of the numbers, I wanted to get rid of them all together, and in the case of the underscores, I wanted to replace them with a single whitespace.

Ahh yes, the first one does that. As for the second one

preg_replace("#\\W#"," ", $text);

should work fine. (\W means non-"word" character. A "word" character is alphanumeric characters plus underscore.)
