problem with configuring php.ini

hey there,
as I was trying to figure out a problem I had with php I found out something that is really strange.
in phpinfo it displayed other settings then when I opened php.ini
let's say if an option was set to "no" when I ran phpinfo, and I doublechecked it in php.ini and it was set to "yes" in there.. and when I changed it to "no" it still didn't update it in the phpinfo.

did you restart your websever? you have to do that for the changes to take effect.

yeah I did that.. but don't you think it's strange how it shows "yes" in the loaded phpinfo and in the .ini it says "no"?

I had this problem once and eventually found out I was editing an alternate version of the php.ini.

One of the first entries in the phpinfo should be the location of the php.ini. Did you edit that one?

I have seen the same thing too. I had (inadvertently) put the same switch in twice. The first time I had set it to on, and later in the file it was off. Check to make sure the variable is not duplicated.

hey there. well I did check to correct path to the .ini file and I was editing the correct one. and I just checked for duplicates and no.. there are none.

It is also possible to override php.ini settings in the .htaccess file
