[Resolved] mysql_connect(): Too many connections

i'm getting this error message...never see this before...

Warning: mysql_connect(): Too many connections in /home/pathto/conn.php on line 2

is this something that i might be doing wrong on my end...or is it a larger server issue?

i've been creating an order entry system, which is a little complex, but it's just alot of basic queries, loops, INSERTS, UPDATES and DELETES...nothing more...

Check if you close db connection in every page with

db_close();

It also happen if you reach the maximum connection opened by your database : a lot of users connected could make this problem!

no...i don't close my database...i guess i should...but i'm not sure on the specifcs on that except something like "mysql.close" at the end of the script...

however, until now, i've never had this problem and i've been doing dev on soemthings for months...

my guess is somebody else on the server has something going on...

what are the proper ways to close database connections? is there much to it? well, i'll start looking it up...

1: You don't have to close db connections on every page. PHP does this for you. It's not gonna hurt, but it's not gonna help either.

2: If you're using persistant connections, you should probably switch to regular non-persistant connections. Unless your web server and mysql are properly configured, this problem will continue to pop up if you're using persistant connections.

thanks...it wasn't me i've found out...

something else was up with the server...i believe a simple reboot took care of the problem...v
