Code not working after move to PHP 4.3

I need to move my site that was coded in PHP 4.1.1 to 4.3.3.

This first problem I'm having is my vars are not being passed from the URL. ie http://www.domain.com/page.php?id=2

I echo the $id and it returns nothing. I can't fix any of my other code until I can figure this out.

Next I need to deal with sessions.

Any help would be great! Thanks!

Are you using $GET and $POST instead of $HTTP_VARS_GET and $HTTP_VARS_POST?

I went one level more simple and just created a test page to echo a variable.

I went to the page and added

test.php?id=2

in the url and nothing.

? echo "$id"; ?

Could it be that the server admin has something turned off. I've been coding PHP for years and never had a problem so odd as this. This is basic PHP stuff, but I've been coding in 4.1 fine and this is my first dealings with 4.3.

I feel stupid right about now. 🙂

What I've used ever since I started coding PHP 3 years ago. And it doesn't work.

Either I'm missing something that's new with PHP 4.3.3 or this server has something in it's setting preventing this sort of Variable transfer.

its called register globals.

it doesn't work anymore because in older php versions globals was set .. by default now its off.

so, you have to use

test.php?id=2
//
echo $_GET['id'];

Yup, that did it. Doh. You can imagine my frustration being so used to doing it one way.

Now will this prevent me from using sessions at all? Will I have to use _GET for sessions as well?

You can even use import_request_variables() instead of extract(), but import_request_variables() has a prefix feature.
