Mysql SOCKET?

I'm working a script on this server.. and I can't seem to connect to mysql, its a forgien server to me the admin staff are slow as shit and I need to get this together now.

the error is strange?

it seems to be trying to connect with sockets?
I don't understand why its ddoing this, can I aviod it somehow?

Is MySQL running?

MySQL uses sockets to connect ot database on localhost by default, so it should be using sockets...

If mySQL is running, but you still get that error, do a locate for "mysql.sock", and place the path to it as the option for mysql.default_socket in your php.ini.

A path you might want to try is /tmp/mysql.sock .
