frames php/html and scrollbars

Sorry if this is not the correct forum, not sure where to post this one.

For awhile now I have been using frames in my PHP/HTML sites. This is widely supported and so far has worked fine with one exception. When you hit refresh on the browsers (both on Macintosh and PC), scrollbars appear, even on the inner frames where I have specified that I do not want scrollbars. This leads to a very ugly result. Is there a specific solution or has anyone ran into this problem before.

Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

i think you use nested frames, they are difficult to controle. Use iFrames instead.

if you want to hide the scrollbars for a frame, you can use the scrolling="no" attribute.

if there are iframes, you can use a CSS trick, setting the overflow:hidden component for the iframe

As far as my original post, I have to apologize, after furthur testing I discovered that this was only an issue on Explorer on the Macintosh. I am assuming this is just a platform/browser version bug. It seems to work ok on all other browsers in both platforms.

I have only heard of I-frames, haven't used them yet.

What are the compatibility issues with this in regards to platform/browser version. If you have a link or a good resource that i can check out specifically on i-frames, let me know, i will do a little research on this my self.

I was using the scrolling attribute, "no for no scrolling and I used "auto for areas that I wanted scrollbars when needed.

Is there a way you can force only verical bars to show and not horozontal bars, even if they pull their browser window really small. Just curious if this was possible.
