Need help with backing up data

This one is a tough one for me, hopefully not for you.

This is what is being asked of me:

We are running a mysql db with php and they(my employers)want me to "mirror" all the data to a mirrored db working on a remote server.

I am versed on daily and weekly backups but what they want is for evertime an update or insert sql statement is ran that the remote db gets the same statements run.

remote LIVE UPDATES basically

Do you use phpMyAdmin?

In the recent versions are standard export-functions for the whole database.

olaf's suggestion will not work for your needs.

Essentially, you need to perform the same queries on both databases. You could replace your normal mysql_query with a custom function. In this function, you can
1. run the query as normal
2. connect to the 2nd database
3. run the query on the 2nd databae
4. close the connection
You would have to make sure you have mysql and apache running on the 2nd dbase.

you are right i have to read better. I think its a good point to update both databases on the same time
