parsing question

Hello:

I hope you guys can help me out. I have a simple text file that contains the following information. Is it possible to parse each paragraph into its own variable?

sample.txt:

Montreal Expos - Sent outright infielder-catcher Edwards Guzman,
pitcher Eric Knott and first baseman-outfielder Joe Vitiello to
Edmonton of the Pacific Coast League (AAA).

Pittsburgh Pirates - Claimed pitcher Jason Boyd off waivers from
the Cleveland Indians; released infielder Jose Hernandez.

Texas Rangers - Announced that pitcher Aaron Fultz, infielder
Donnie Sadler and outfielders Ryan Christenson and Jermaine
Clark have cleared waivers.

Any help would be great!

Sure. Read the file with [man]file[/man] Join all the lines together into one string with [man]join[/man], then explode it into an array paragraphs where double-newlines appear using [man]explode[/man].

now, my next question is... do you know if there is away to get whats ever in front of the dash into its own variable? I have looked into preg_match but i cant figure that out.

Example:
$Var = "Montreal Expos";
