mkdir and chmod

working on the following problem:

I don't seem to be able to create a directory with the mkdir command, the mod of the directory i wish to create it in is 777, but i get a permission denied.

Does mkdir only work only when the script is on localhost? any suggestions?

For safe and security obviously you can't create a directory from another server to another one.I think so.
So you have to be in localhost.

I know, the script runs on the server where the dir is to be created, but i get an access denied error.

did you checked chmod in the upper dir,

is there a .htaccess file?

Check the property of the file that execute the mkdir.
Use chown to set it to the right user that have access to create file/directory:ex root?nobody.nogroup?.....
See if the file have properties to execute etc.....
Perhaps a chmod 777 to this file........
Can't help you anymore cause i 'm a programmer not a Systemistic (if exists this word in english.........security sever administrator.....)

There is no .htaccess file, and the main dir in wich the subdirs wil be created has mod 777

maybe its limited by the ISP.
