[Resolved] How to detect an email addy??

I'm developing a forum, and I don't want people to post an email address. I don' mind if they can insert the address into the database when they post the message.

But when I display the stored messsage, how can I detect if an email address is within the mesage text and ban it from being published?? I need some fuction where i can detect "email-look-like" strings, for instance "h0tmail", "h o t m a i l", "[e-mail]" etc... and instead of it displaying ##### characters.

Any ideas? I'ven been researching over the interner but found nothing. I think that this function can be very helpful to prevent spam as well.

Well since an email has to have the little '@' symbol then you could use some preg_replace action to just get rid of it.

You can find an example of filtering for an email here, but that only checks to see if it is valid or not.

If you want to be able to outsmart people munging their email, you've got quite a large task ahead of you (one the spammers would like to figure out).

Thank your help, I will try to use these functions, thats what I was looking for, but before I have format my PC, I got a virus 🙁
