Which country user is from...?

Hey 🙂

I've created a very simple counter that just gives me the number of visitors my site has had, but I'd like to find out if it's possible to make my counter, so it can show me how many visitors I had from for example Denmark, Germany or France. Basically a way to find out where all my visitors are from - I suppose it could be something about figuring out the language of the OS the visitor is using or what do you think?

I'm still kind of a newbie at this, so go easy on me please 🙂

If you wanna do this in php you have to use data from your servers logfile. There is tutorialonthis site.

MaxMind GeoIP.

It'll deduce the location your visitor is from by tracking back their IP address. Of course, it's prone to "location spoofing" due to proxied IP addresses.

There's a free downloadable version that you can easily implement into Apache or PHP.

I actually found IP2nation at www.ip2nation.com which works perfectly fine, but thank you very much for your replies 🙂
