[Resolved] Linux Red Hat AS 1.2 PHP 4.2

Hi🙂
I'm new to Linux installations and have been relying heavily on RPMs to install and upgrade my PHP.

The latest version available for my dist (Advanced Server 1.2) from Red Hat Network is PHP 4.1.2 but I'd like to be able to upgrade this to 4.2 or even 4.3 if possible.

Could I ask for some advice, preferably a link to an RPM I could use that is compatible for my Linux dist. AS 1.2

I've done the search and results are pretty much the same.

Is it OK for me to install a package that is for a different Red Hat version?
The PHP 4.2.2 package seems to be available for Red Hat 8 & 9 only, while mine I guess corresponds most closely 7.x.

Sorry if the questions seems dumb, I'm just starting out in all this🙂

RPM may not be the right route. Though, there may be some RPM's on rpmfind, they might not be compatable with Red Hat. Only way I've been able to upgrade past the available up2date RPM for Red Hat was to compile from source.
